Sensirion works closely with leading sensor hub manufacturer Atmel on the latter's sensor hub initiative. The venture brings together sensor manufacturers and companies that specialize in developing fusion algorithms. They are jointly creating an expandable, unified platform to prototype new plug-and-play sensor subsystems for smart phones or wearable devices.
Sensirion provides sensor wing boards that are compatible with Atmel's Xplained Pro platform and include the SHTC1 and SHTW2 humidity and temperature sensors. Built for the consumer and mobile market, they have tiny footprints of 2 x 2 x 0.8 mm³ and 1.3 x 0.7 x 0.5 mm³, respectively, and require a power supply of just 1.8 V. Sensirion's sensor boards complement existing extension boards with touch controls or display capabilities whenever the rapid development and construction of powerful systems is called for.
Products and Ordering Information
Sensirion is offering two boards for the Atmel Xplained Pro platform, one equipped with the SHTC1 sensor, the other with two SHTW2 humidity sensors. While their interface is made for Atmel's boards, they can easily be used for other boards as well, and their integrated voltage converters allow them to be used in a 1.8 - 5.5 V range.
