Sensirion’s relative humidity sensors win over customers thanks to their high performance and integration (CMOSens® technology) in a miniature format. The capacitive humidity sensors provide digital and fully calibrated output that allows for easy integration without the need for additional calibration. Their excellent long-term stability is very well perceived and the cutting-edge low energy consumption makes them the right choice for any application.
Sensirion’s digital humidity sensors are offered in different packaging types: SMD type (SHT1x series), pin type (SHT7x series), DFN type (SHT3x, SHTC1 & SHT2x series), and CSP (SHTW2). The humidity sensors SHT1x, SHT2x, SHT3x, SHTC1, and SHTW2 are reflow solderable, while pin-type humidity sensors are used for devices where flexible integration is crucial or easy replacement is necessary. The SHT1x, SHT2x, and SHT3x series are subdivided further according to different accuracy levels of humidity reading and interface variations. Test Our Humidity Sensors with Sensirion's Evaluation Kit
Our evaluation kits enable easy testing of our humidity sensors. We offer four different types of evaluation kits:
- The Evaluation Kit EK-H4 for SHT21, SHT31, and SHT71 on PCB:
Easy-to-use plug-and-play system; read out data of four SHTxx humidity sensors simultaneously; connect with a PC via USB
- The Evaluation Kit EK-H4 for SHTC1, SHTW2, and SHT3x on Flex:
Same functionality as EK-H4, but sensor samples are provided on flex PCB for easy integration of sensors into limited spaces
- The Evaluation Kit EK-H5 for SHT21 on PCB and SHT31 on PCB and Flex:
Very simple system (USB stick, sensor cable and connector) enables fast and easy testing; read out and display sensor data on PC with minimum effort
- The Evaluation Kit EK-H5 for SHTC1, SHTW2, and STSC1:
Same functionality as EK-H5, but designed for evaluation of 1.8 V sensors
The SHT31 Smart Gadget is a simple reference design circuit board and development kit which demonstrates the outstanding performance and ease of use of Sensirion’s humidity and temperature sensors. The Smart Gadget not only shows humidity and temperature values on the display, but can also communicate with a bluetooth SMART capable device like a smartphone. Filtermembrane Option For SHT3x Humidity Sensors
The SHT3x membrane is a PTFE film that protects the sensor opening from water and dust according to IP67. It thus allows sensor use under harsh environmental conditions, where spray water and high exposure to dust might be challenging for accurate sensor performance. The membrane cover is attached to the sensor package by a double-faced adhesive tape, which is designed to stay on the package over the lifetime of the sensor. The whole package withstands multiple reflow cycles.
Due to minimal package volume and the membrane’s high water vapor permeability, the response time of the relative humidity and temperature signal is identical to the value achieved by the uncovered sensor. Although the membrane option provides perfect protection against water and dust ingress according to IP67, it does not in general prevent contamination from volatile chemicals. More details on contamination can be found in the document "Handling Instructions for Humidity Sensors". All SHT3x sensors can be ordered in tape and reel packaging; the reels are delivered in sealed antistatic ESD bags. Please find more details in the relevant datasheet.
