Sensirion - a success story
ETH graduates Moritz Lechner and Felix Mayer established Sensirion in 1998. Two years later, they sold the first sensor - the ASF1400 mass flow sensor. In the years that followed, various product lines were introduced and the areas of application, from medical technology to the automotive sector and entertainment technology, were continuously expanded. The company grew steadily and by 2005 a move from Oerlikon to larger quarters in Staefa was necessary. Soon Sensirion had grown beyond the borders of Switzerland. In 2005, the first US branch opened, followed by branches in Korea, China and finally Taiwan. Having started with just a small team, today Sensirion employs more than 600 people worldwide. The company has been honored for its outstanding performance on numerous occasions, including the Swiss Economics Award in 2004 and Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010. And in 2015 Sensirion still achieves great things, when the company continuously works on tomorrow's innovations or their new sensors open up new dimensions in environmental sensing applications.
