Welcome back from summer vacation
Dear reader,
Welcome to the latest issue of our newsletter. Along with news about our products, markets and applications, this time Sensirion is returning from summer vacation with a new, modern website. In addition, in the R&D Note our specialists provide detailed background information on the highly topical subject of humidity monitoring in electric vehicles. We hope you enjoy reading the newsletter.
New website
Sensirion has totally revamped its website. Full-screen imagery and simple explanations help you learn about sensors and sensor systems. Fully in accordance with our motto "Sensing. Anytime. Anywhere.", the Home page provides graphic examples of sensor applications in everyday life and how you can benefit from them. The clear layout and logical menu structure also provide quick access to all data. With just one click, as a customer you can view the data for your desired product, or as a job applicant you can view our current career openings. Along with the presentation of all products and product groups, on the new Market pages you can quickly find the right product for your application, learn more about our comprehensive service, or find the right contact person. Visit the Sensirion website.
New innovations in humidity and temperature sensors planned
In the last ten years our humidity and temperature sensors have become established as the standard in global markets due to their high level of integration (CMOSens® Technology) and very small size. All humidity sensors provide a fully calibrated digital output signal and feature high long-term stability, extremely high accuracy and very low power consumption. The SHT1x, SHT7x and SHT2x product lines give you a choice of various designs and specifications according to the intended application. Visit our Humidity product pages to learn about the various humidity and temperature sensor families and the performance features of individual sensors. The next innovation step is coming soon. Sensirion will present a new humidity sensor product in the fall.
Differential pressure sensors for HVAC applications
Sensirion's differential pressure sensors ensure energy-efficient and sustainable building services. Demand-driven variable ventilation systems (VAV), burner control and heat recovery devices are decisive factors for today's integrated building control technology in both private households and industrial environments. Climate measurement and control systems, as well as factors such as differential pressure, temperature, humidity and air supply, play a major role here. Our SDP500 differential pressure sensors, described in the previous newsletter, are especially suitable for diverse applications in building technology due to their extremely high sensitivity and repeatability as well as their excellent value for money. Browse our mindmap on the Market page or view our flyer to learn more about sensors in HVAC applications.
Reliable monitoring of dynamic dosing applications
Sensirion is launching the SLI flow sensor family for high-precision process monitoring in applications with low dispensing volumes. The new sensors enable reliable, low-cost measurement of flow rates in the microliter and milliliter range and are available for aqueous liquids as well as oils, fuels and solvents. The small size and low weight of the devices make the sensors perfectly suited for use in process control systems and in applications in the pharmaceutical and medical industry. Visit our Liquid Flow product page to learn more about the SLI universal sensor.
R&D Note: Humidity monitoring for safety of electric vehicles
The safety of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles is highly dependent on the robustness of the battery. The lithium ion batteries commonly used in such vehicles are a source of many potential hazards for the occupants and surrounding traffic. This makes sophisticated battery management systems essential in modern vehicles. In such systems, integrated sensors constantly monitor and measure important parameters such as humidity and temperature.
When these sensors detect that a monitored value is outside specified limits, the battery is immediately disconnected from the vehicle. The proper use of humidity sensors can therefore considerably increase the safety of vehicle batteries, reduce their energy consumption and increase their lifetime. Read our R&D Note to learn more about humidity monitoring in electric vehicles.
Preview: Upcoming trade fairs
Sensirion is exhibiting at various trade fairs this fall: RFID/USN Korea (Seoul), Sensor Expo Japan (Tokyo), Respiratory Congress (Tampa FL, USA), Electronica (Munich, Germany) and COMPAMED / Medica (Düsseldorf, Germany). Along with our proven sensor solutions for humidity and temperature, liquid and gas flow and differential pressure, this time we are presenting a real innovation. Visit our stand at a trade fair to learn more about our unique new product.
