Sensirion attracts young talents
Sensirion is among the most popular employers among students at technical institutions. This success is the result of Sensirion's dedication to ongoing development opportunities for employees. Sensirion invests considerable resources towards finding, recruiting and developing the best talent. It has recently expanded its HR department and created the new "Employer Branding and Recruiting" unit.
According to Universum, the research institute for HR marketing, Sensirion is among the most popular employers in Switzerland. The company rose 6 places in the rankings this year, coming in at 38th place among surveyed engineers. Among students of the natural sciences, it rose an even more impressive 12 places to 34th. The research institute surveyed roughly 10,000 Swiss students regarding their preferred employers and career plans. Sensirion employs approximately 500 employees worldwide, with 450 in Switzerland alone, and was awarded the "Entrepreneur of the Year" prize by Ernst+Young in 2010. The award recognizes companies which, through determined action and a willingness to take risks, contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the Swiss economy.
"We're delighted to be ranked among the most popular employers," says Co-CEO Moritz Lechner. "We invest a lot in our employees and they give back a great deal in return. We regard this strong ranking as a validation of our determined efforts to attract the very best talent." The company places high demands on its staff, primarily seeking for physicists, electrical engineers, computer scientists and chemists. Nearly half have university degrees and roughly 15% have doctorates.
"It's not always easy to find the ideal candidates, but as an attractive company that offers young people optimal development opportunities, we can attract the best," adds Lechner. It's no coincidence that a highly-regarded employer attracts the best applicants. Sensirion regards Human Resources as one of its central tasks and pursues an innovative path in this field. To give even greater weight to the HR function, Sensirion split the department into two units with their own directors, who are both represented in the executive management. The "Employer Branding and Recruiting" unit headed by Peter Kosel looks for and actively recruits the best talent for Sensirion. Meanwhile the "Human Resources" unit under Heiko Lambach focuses on employee support and development. "Employee issues are dealt with directly at the executive level and directly impact our decision-making, ensuring that we can continue to attract and develop the best technical and management talent," emphasizes Lechner.
Sensirion provides employees with a corporate culture founded on fairness and honesty, constructive cooperation based on mutual respect and an uncompromising dedication to achievement.
