Flow sensors used in emergency ventilators

In an emergency, intuitive and reliable operation of ventilators is essential for both patients and medical staff. For the past five years, WEINMANN has been working closely with Sensirion to equip its MEDUMAT Standard2 ventilator with sensor technology that allows for precise flow and volume measurements, and features a robust design and low dead space.
"Sensirion was the ideal flow sensor partner from the very beginning on. Their expertise and support accelerated our development phase and the robust design of the flow sensors contributes to the success of the MEDUMAT ventilator." - Andreas Sommer, Head of Systems Engineering at WEINMANN
Swiss Air-Rescue Rega has been using the latest generation of the MEDUMAT Standard2 ventilator for almost a year now. This means that Sensirion's SFM3300 proximal flow sensors are also onboard its rescue helicopters. More than 10,000 patients benefit from the emergency medical aid provided by Rega every year. Its operations are carried out by highly qualified, professional members of staff and rely on the very best equipment available in the fields of rescue, medical and flight technology. The equipment and devices used must always meet the latest standards.
