Innovations and other news
Dear reader,
We have a lot of exciting news for you today, including our new facility in Taiwan, our service and distribution partner TrigasFI for mass flow controllers, and various new products. We're especially proud of our new SHTC1 humidity sensor, a true innovation. As the world's smallest humidity and temperature sensor, it sets new standards for size, power consumption, production volume and price. In the latest R&D Note, our development engineers provide a detailed description of the simplification of our liquid flow sensors with planar package technology. Enjoy your reading!
Collaboration with TrigasFI for mass flow controllers
Sensirion and the German company TrigasFI GmbH recently inked an agreement for a close service and distribution partnership for mass flow controllers. Along with distribution, TrigasFI will provide recalibration and individual calibration for mass flow controllers for a wide variety of gases. This partnership gives customers a new source for mass flow controllers in low quantities together with customer-specific consulting, training and individual on-site support. The primary product focus of the collaboration is our popular SCF4000 mass flow controller. However, the shared product portfolio will be expanded to include other products by early 2013. New development department in Taiwan
At Sensirion we are still in the midst of a strong growth phase, and we recently expanded our international network of companies with the addition of an R&D division in Taiwan's Hsinchu Technology Park. This move intensifies our cooperation with local suppliers and enables us to profit from local expertise in the semiconductor industry. Read more...
R&D Note: Simplification with Planar Package Technology
Sensirion has developed a simplified liquid flow sensor technology which is available for projects starting at an annual demand of 10'000 sensors. The innovative CMOSens® planar packaging technology enables Sensirion's highly sensitive thermal flow sensor microchips to measure non-invasively through the wall of a flow channel inside a planar microfluidic substrate. The design provides unique sensitivity for liquid flow measurement and bubble detection even in the microliter range. A small digital CMOSens® microchip (2.2 x 3.5 mm) is bonded to the microfluidic channel substrate. Beside the sensor element it houses the complete digital intelligence as well as the memory necessary for signal linearization, temperature compensation and self-test algorithms. Read our R&D note to learn more about our liquid flow sensor technology.
The world's smallest humidity and temperature sensor
The new humidity and temperature sensor has finally arrived! As announced in the previous issue of the newsletter, this is a true innovation from Sensirion. As the world's smallest humidity and temperature sensor, it sets new standards for size, power consumption, production volume and price, which makes it an excellent choice for use in mobile devices.
